“Black Boaters of America Code of Conduct ”

The Black Boaters of America (BBA) is dedicated to providing an environment where all members and guests can socialize and enjoy safe boating and water activities. To achieve this goal, everyone must adhere to certain rules and regulations. We support organizations like the Coast Guard that have developed specific rules emphasizing safety while on the dock and on inland waterways. Everyone shares in the responsibility to make the boating experience safe and enjoyable.

1.  Safety of families and guests are the responsibility of the boat owner. Children must be supervised.  Life jackets are required for children 10 years and under while on the dock or on the water.

2.  All boaters and guests are expected to conduct themselves so as not to create annoyance, hazard or nuisance to other boaters or guests.

3.  Members are responsible for insuring that guests comply and respect individual boat owner’s watercraft and property.

4.  Boat owners are encouraged to take a boater education course to learn more about navigating water ways for safe and enjoyable boating.

5.  Members and guests are expected to gain permission when boarding another boater's vessel.

6.  To promote camaraderie and a spirit sharing, members and guests are encouraged to bring their choice of food and beverage when participating in impromptu or sponsored activities unless otherwise advised.

7.  All boat owners and quests are responsible for making sure that proper foot attire is worn on board all boats to prevent damage and insure safety.

8.  Always observe No Wake Zones.

9.  All refuse is to be discarded properly in Marina refuse containers.

10. Firearms are not allowed at any BBA sponsored event.

11. Obey all posted rules and regulations throughout the marina and lake.

12. Boat owners are advised to familiarize themselves and comply with the US Coast Guards rules and regulations. (See US Coast Guard link on website).
